day one
Today we talked about the things that we need to know in order to be proficient in this stemmersion. today i learned that we need to know each other and be environmentally safe. i got to know a lot of people that are in the stemmersion and lot of them are really nice people. the next part of the day we went outside we took pictures of the leaves outside and the flowers. during the final part of the day we went to the gym and took a nap.
day two
Today we went to Cox Arboretum, before we left we wrote a haigu, as you can see in the below. We got there and immediately started walking around. We walked to a lake and had our first encounter, several turtles were sitting on the bank. We walked around and I really enjoyed seeing all the wildlife and breathing all natures air.
I took ton pictures all together and
really liked how they turned out so I showed them off to my parents. Today's
experience showed me how to live deliberately because it gave a purpose to
walking around and viewing the beautiful earth. I had a lot of fun today
day 3
Today we looked at water and how it effects our environment, water is important because it is what we use to live and what we use for recreational use. The first thing we did today was write a poem that had to do with the river and rain. This is the poem:
After writing the poem we went to different stations throughout the day and learned about rain and rivers. the first station that we went to was the river mobile. in the river mobile we learned about where the water goes when its in rivers and where it leaves the rivers and enters the ocean. The next station we went to was the Dayton water source station. we learned what goes into getting a job that involves water. the 3rd station that we went to was the outdoors water testing and we learned how they test water for things like diseases. Finally we went to a station that told us about going into pipes using cameras and learning what goes into them and if water looks right.
day 4
We went kayaking and we had a lot of fun, the first thing we did was go on the rope swing. That was a lot of fun and I would totally do it again. During the kayaking trip it was really hard because it was a really long river. Multiple people from my group got stuck on trees and rocks and I had to help them so they can continue their trip. When we were done kayaking we ate food and I had to change clothes because my clothes were wet from jumping into the water. We had to wait for the last group to get done kayaking because they got lost, they took a wrong turn and went down a side path. On the way back we talked about how fun it was
day 5
Today we went on a hiking trip and it was a lot of fun. The first thing we did today before we went on the field trip was make a journal that we would draw what we saw on the trip and we would take notes as well. On the way to the place we would be hiking my friends and I talked about what we would do first when we got there. We decided to do water testing first and document things like the air temperature, water temperature and saturation. We had fun doing that because we were able to walk around in the water. Next, we walked all the way over to the nature center were we learned about different types of animals such as; snakes and turtles etc. finally my group went to the rope swing and swam in the water. It was a little shallow which resulted in me hurting my foot but it was still a lot of fun.
day 6
Today the first thing we did was listen to someone read a book, it was about a farm and after we heard it we had to write a poem about it and describe it from the position of something on the farm. After we were done with that we went to carriage hills and we looked at the animals. We saw horses, donkeys, chickens and sheep. I had a lot of fun because I got to meet the donkey and his name was Steven. Steven was my best friend, he understood me. After we were done looking at the animals we went over to the concession stand had lunch and after we had lunch they gave us bags of candy.
day 7
Today we went to Delco Park, but before we went to Delco Park we read the exercise sheet “small world”. Once we read through that sheet we started to walk to Delco and we had a fun time. On the way there my leg was hurting and made it hard for me to walk. Once we got to Delco we listened to a horror book writer talk about nature and metaphors, he let us go into the park and find nature metaphors. When we got back we shared. Finally we played volleyball and went back to the school.
